The
Other
Side
of
Life β β
Theme:
What
happens
beyond
what
we
can
see,
and
how
should
we
live
today? β
Life
has
two
sides:
what
we
see
now
and
what
comes
after
this
life. β
We
see
houses,
cars,
money,
careers,
sickness,
success,
marriage,
struggles
and
celebrations.
But
there
is
another
side
that
the
natural
eye
cannot
seeβ
the
eternal
side
of
life. β
Many
people
prepare
carefully
for
this
present
life
but
make
little
preparation
for
eternity. β
Jesus
asked
in
Mark 8:36: ββ
For
what
shall
it
profit
a
man,
if
he
shall
gain
the
whole
world,
and
lose
his
own
soul?β β
The
greatest
question
is
not
only, β
How
are
you
living
now?β
but β
Where
will
you
spend
eternity?β β1.
There
Is
More
to
Life
Than
What
We
See β2
Corinthians 4:18 ββ
While
we
look
not
at
the
things
which
are
seen,
but
at
the
things
which
are
not
seenβ¦β β
The
physical
world
is
temporary.
What
we
see
today
will
eventually
pass
away. β
Your
money
can
disappear. β
Your
position
can
change. β
Your
body
will
become
weak. β
Your
earthly
possessions
will
remain
behind. β
But
your
soul
is
eternal. β
Prayer: ββ
Lord,
help
me
not
to
become
so
attached
to
temporary
things
that
I
forget
eternal
things.β β2.
Death
Is
Not
the
End
of
Existence β
Hebrews 9:27 ββ
And
as
it
is
appointed
unto
men
once
to
die,
but
after
this
the
judgment.β β
The
Bible
does
not
teach
that
death
is
the
end.
Death
is
a
transition
from
this
earthly
existence
into
eternity. β
This
is
why
we
must
take
our
spiritual
lives
seriously. β
Nobody
knows
exactly
when
their
earthly
journey
will
end.
Therefore,
today
is
the
day
to
prepare. β
Amos 4:12: ββ
Prepare
to
meet
thy
God.β β3.
The
Story
of
the
Rich
Man
and
Lazarus β
Read
Luke 16:19β31. β
Jesus
told
the
story
of
a
rich
man
and
Lazarus. β
The
rich
man
had
everything
on
this
side
of
lifeβ
clothing,
food
and
comfort. β
Lazarus
had
almost
nothing. β
But
something
happened
that
changed
everything: ββ
The
rich
man
also
died,
and
was
buried.β β
Luke 16:22 β
On
earth,
the
rich
man
appeared
to
be
winning. β
But
on
the
other
side,
the
situation
was
completely
different. β
This
teaches
us
something
powerful: β
Earthly
circumstances
do
not
determine
eternal
destiny. β
You
may
be
poor
today
and
still
have
eternal
riches. β
You
may
be
wealthy
today
and
still
be
spiritually
bankrupt. β
You
may
be
rejected
by
people
but
accepted
by
God. β
Therefore,
don't
measure
your
life
only
by
what
is
happening
on
this
side. β4.
Your
Soul
Is
More
Valuable
Than
Your
Possessions β
Mark 8:36β37 ββ
For
what
shall
it
profit
a
man,
if
he
shall
gain
the
whole
world,
and
lose
his
own
soul?β β
Imagine
gaining
everything
but
losing
your
soul. β
You
can
have: β
A
successful
business β
A
beautiful
house β
A
good
car β
A
powerful
position β
Fame β
Money β
Many
friends β
But
if
you
lose
your
relationship
with
God,
you
have
lost
what
matters
most. β
Never
sacrifice
eternity
for
temporary
pleasure. β5.
There
Will
Be
a
Day
of
Accountability β
Romans 14:12 ββ
So
then
every
one
of
us
shall
give
account
of
himself
to
God.β β
One
day
we
will
answer
to
God. β
Not
your
pastor. β
Not
your
parents. β
Not
your
friends. β
You. β
What
did
you
do
with
the
life
God
gave
you? β
How
did
you
treat
people? β
Did
you
forgive? β
Did
you
serve
God? β
Did
you
use
your
gifts
for
His
glory? β
Did
you
accept
Christ? β6.
Eternity
Has
Two
Destinations β
Jesus
spoke
about
eternal
consequences. β
Matthew 25:46 ββ
And
these
shall
go
away
into
everlasting
punishment:
but
the
righteous
into
life
eternal.β β
The
Bible
presents
eternity
seriously. β
There
is
eternal
life
with
God,
and
there
is
eternal
separation
from
God. β
Therefore,
salvation
is
not
something
to
postpone. β2
Corinthians 6:2: ββ
Behold,
now
is
the
accepted
time;
behold,
now
is
the
day
of
salvation.β β7.
How
Should
We
Live
on
This
Side? β
A.
Live
for
Christ β
Philippians 1:21 ββ
For
to
me
to
live
is
Christ,
and
to
die
is
gain.β β
Let
Christ
become
the
center
of
your
life. β
B.
Keep
Your
Heart
Right β
Matthew 5:8 ββ
Blessed
are
the
pure
in
heart:
for
they
shall
see
God.β β
Don't
allow
bitterness,
hatred,
unforgiveness
and
sin
to
control
your
heart. β
C.
Forgive
People β
Life
is
too
short
to
carry
hatred. β
Release
those
who
hurt
you. β
D.
Serve
God
With
Your
Time β
Ephesians 5:16 ββ
Redeeming
the
time,
because
the
days
are
evil.β β
Your
time
on
earth
is
limited.
Use
it
wisely. β
E.
Win
Souls β
Proverbs 11:30 ββ
He
that
winneth
souls
is
wise.β β
Don't
only
pursue
blessings.
Help
somebody
find
Christ. β8.
Don't
Wait
Until
the
Other
Side
to
Realize
What
Matters β
The
rich
man
in
Luke 16
wanted
his
brothers
to
receive
a
warning. β
But
it
was
too
late
for
him
to
return. β
That
is
why
today
matters. β
If
there
is
someone
you
need
to
forgiveβ
do
it. β
If
there
is
something
you
need
to
repent
fromβ
repent. β
If
you
have
drifted
away
from
Godβ
return. β
If
you
have
never
accepted
Jesus
Christβ
receive
Him. β
Don't
wait
until
your
earthly
journey
ends. β
Powerful
Conclusion β
The
other
side
of
life
is
real. β
One
day,
every
earthly
title
will
disappear. β
The
businessman
will
leave
the
business
