Other
Side
of
Life
Theme:
What
happens
beyond
what
we
can
see,
and
how
should
we
live
today?
Life
has
two
sides:
what
we
see
now
and
what
comes
after
this
life.
We
see
houses,
cars,
money,
careers,
sickness,
success,
marriage,
struggles
and
celebrations.
But
there
is
another
side
that
the
natural
eye
cannot
see—
the
eternal
side
of
life.
Many
people
prepare
carefully
for
this
present
life
but
make
little
preparation
for
eternity.
Jesus
asked
in
Mark 8:36: “
For
what
shall
it
profit
a
man,
if
he
shall
gain
the
whole
world,
and
lose
his
own
soul?”
The
greatest
question
is
not
only, “
How
are
you
living
now?”
but “
Where
will
you
spend
eternity?” 1.
There
Is
More
to
Life
Than
What
We
See 2
Corinthians 4:18 “
While
we
look
not
at
the
things
which
are
seen,
but
at
the
things
which
are
not
seen…”
The
physical
world
is
temporary.
What
we
see
today
will
eventually
pass
away.
Your
money
can
disappear.
Your
position
can
change.
Your
body
will
become
weak.
Your
earthly
possessions
will
remain
behind.
But
your
soul
is
eternal.
Prayer: “
Lord,
help
me
not
to
become
so
attached
to
temporary
things
that
I
forget
eternal
things.” 2.
Death
Is
Not
the
End
of
Existence
Hebrews 9:27 “
And
as
it
is
appointed
unto
men
once
to
die,
but
after
this
the
judgment.”
The
Bible
does
not
teach
that
death
is
the
end.
Death
is
a
transition
from
this
earthly
existence
into
eternity.
This
is
why
we
must
take
our
spiritual
lives
seriously.
Nobody
knows
exactly
when
their
earthly
journey
will
end.
Therefore,
today
is
the
day
to
prepare.
Amos 4:12: “
Prepare
to
meet
thy
God.” 3.
The
Story
of
the
Rich
Man
and
Lazarus
Read
Luke 16:19–31.
Jesus
told
the
story
of
a
rich
man
and
Lazarus.
The
rich
man
had
everything
on
this
side
of
life—
clothing,
food
and
comfort.
Lazarus
had
almost
nothing.
But
something
happened
that
changed
everything: “
The
rich
man
also
died,
and
was
buried.” —
Luke 16:22
On
earth,
the
rich
man
appeared
to
be
winning.
But
on
the
other
side,
the
situation
was
completely
different.
This
teaches
us
something
powerful:
Earthly
circumstances
do
not
determine
eternal
destiny.
You
may
be
poor
today
and
still
have
eternal
riches.
You
may
be
wealthy
today
and
still
be
spiritually
bankrupt.
You
may
be
rejected
by
people
but
accepted
by
God.
Therefore,
don't
measure
your
life
only
by
what
is
happening
on
this
side. 4.
Your
Soul
Is
More
Valuable
Than
Your
Possessions
Mark 8:36–37 “
For
what
shall
it
profit
a
man,
if
he
shall
gain
the
whole
world,
and
lose
his
own
soul?”
Imagine
gaining
everything
but
losing
your
soul.
You
can
have:
A
successful
business
A
beautiful
house
A
good
car
A
powerful
position
Fame
Money
Many
friends
But
if
you
lose
your
relationship
with
God,
you
have
lost
what
matters
most.
Never
sacrifice
eternity
for
temporary
pleasure. 5.
There
Will
Be
a
Day
of
Accountability
Romans 14:12 “
So
then
every
one
of
us
shall
give
account
of
himself
to
God.”
One
day
we
will
answer
to
God.
Not
your
pastor.
Not
your
parents.
Not
your
friends.
You.
What
did
you
do
with
the
life
God
gave
you?
How
did
you
treat
people?
Did
you
forgive?
Did
you
serve
God?
Did
you
use
your
gifts
for
His
glory?
Did
you
accept
Christ? 6.
Eternity
Has
Two
Destinations
Jesus
spoke
about
eternal
consequences.
Matthew 25:46 “
And
these
shall
go
away
into
everlasting
punishment:
but
the
righteous
into
life
eternal.”
The
Bible
presents
eternity
seriously.
There
is
eternal
life
with
God,
and
there
is
eternal
separation
from
God.
Therefore,
salvation
is
not
something
to
postpone. 2
Corinthians 6:2: “
Behold,
now
is
the
accepted
time;
behold,
now
is
the
day
of
salvation.” 7.
How
Should
We
Live
on
This
Side?
A.
Live
for
Christ
Philippians 1:21 “
For
to
me
to
live
is
Christ,
and
to
die
is
gain.”
Let
Christ
become
the
center
of
your
life.
B.
Keep
Your
Heart
Right
Matthew 5:8 “
Blessed
are
the
pure
in
heart:
for
they
shall
see
God.”
Don't
allow
bitterness,
hatred,
unforgiveness
and
sin
to
control
your
heart.
C.
Forgive
People
Life
is
too
short
to
carry
hatred.
Release
those
who
hurt
you.
D.
Serve
God
With
Your
Time
Ephesians 5:16 “
Redeeming
the
time,
because
the
days
are
evil.”
Your
time
on
earth
is
limited.
Use
it
wisely.

Win
Souls
Proverbs 11:30 “
He
that
winneth
souls
is
wise.”
Don't
only
pursue
blessings.
Help
somebody
find
Christ. 8.
Don't
Wait
Until
the
Other
Side
to
Realize
What
Matters
The
rich
man
in
Luke 16
wanted
his
brothers
to
receive
a
warning.
But
it
was
too
late
for
him
to
return.
That
is
why
today
matters.
If
there
is
someone
you
need
to
forgive—
do
it.
If
there
is
something
you
need
to
repent
from—
repent.
If
you
have
drifted
away
from
God—
return.
If
you
have
never
accepted
Jesus
Christ—
receive
Him.
Don't
wait
until
your
earthly
journey
ends.
Powerful
Conclusion
The
other
side
of
life
is
real.
One
day,
every
earthly
title
will
disappear.
The
businessman
will
leave
the
business
