TITLE: "IT ENDS WITH ME"
A Story of a Son, a Mother, a Husband, a Father... and Redemption.
(Soft piano... distant thunder... a heartbeat... then a single voice.)
Spoken Introduction
I wasn't born with a perfect story...
I was born with questions.
Questions that echoed through empty rooms.
Questions only God could answer.
I searched for a father...
But found a warrior...
My mother.
Today...
I stand here as a husband.
A father.
A son.
A man still fighting.
This...
Is my testimony.
VERSE ONE
There was an empty chair
At every school meeting.
An empty voice
At every football match.
An empty embrace
On every Father's Day.
I became familiar
With silence.
I learned how to pretend
Everything was alright.
But every night,
When nobody was watching,
I cried into my pillow,
Asking heaven,
"What did I do wrong?"
I didn't know
That some questions
Would never have answers.
VERSE TWO
While I searched
For the love I never received,
Someone else
Was quietly sacrificing everything.
A woman
Whose hands became rough
From carrying burdens
Too heavy for one person.
She became morning
Before the sunrise.
She became hope
Before we understood faith.
She became laughter
Even while hiding tears.
She made hunger
Look like a normal day.
She made pain
Look like strength.
She gave us her youth...
So we could have a future.
She never introduced herself
As a hero.
She simply called herself...
Mama.
PRE-CHORUS
Now I understand...
Some people don't wear crowns.
Some queens
Wear worn-out shoes.
Some heroes
Never appear in history books.
Some miracles
Simply answer
To the name...
Mother.
CHORUS
Mama...
If I could gather
Every prayer you whispered,
They would become
The roof over our lives.
If I could gather
Every tear you cried,
They would become
An ocean
Too deep to cross.
You gave us everything
While asking for nothing.
And every heartbeat
Inside me today...
Still carries
The rhythm
Of your love.
VERSE THREE
Time moved on.
The little boy
Who once searched
For his father
Became a man.
God blessed me
With a beautiful wife.
Then four little miracles
Called me...
"Daddy."
The first time I heard that word...
My heart broke
And healed
At the same time.
Because I finally understood
How much I had missed...
And how much
I had been trusted with.
I looked into their eyes
And made a promise.
"You will never have to wonder
Whether your father loves you."
No matter how hard life becomes...
I will fight to stay.
I will fight to be present.
I will fight for home.
VERSE FOUR
But life has a way
Of reopening old wounds.
Disappointment arrived.
Failure knocked.
Loneliness became loud.
Then...
The bottle
Started whispering promises.
"Just one drink."
"Forget your pain."
"Escape for a while."
One drink
Became another.
Another
Became another.
Soon...
The man
Who promised
Never to disappear...
Started disappearing
Even while sitting
Inside his own home.
My body was there...
But my spirit
Was trapped somewhere else.
I saw fear
In my wife's eyes.
Confusion
In my children's faces.
And shame...
In the mirror.
